My name is María Sánchez. In December 2024, I published my first book with a publisher and was fascinated by the process of shaping a manuscript. I wanted to learn to do it myself.
Shortly after, I met Lucas DeLuna, author of Talking to an Angel — I started as a beta reader and ended up helping him edit and format his work. That project confirmed to me that this was what I wanted to do.
What I love most about this job is the feeling of helping an author bring their book to life. I know what goes into a manuscript because I have also been on the other side.
Why I do this work
I am a publishing formatter and I work with authors who want to publish their book with a professional, careful presentation that is consistent with their work.
I know that a book is not just a file ready to print. Behind it, there is time, decisions, doubts, and a lot of effort. That’s why I treat each project in a personalised way, respecting the essence of the text and taking care of both the visual and technical aspects.
My goal is for the final result to not only look good but also provide a clear, comfortable, and professional reading experience, whether in print or digital format.
It’s not just about formatting. It’s about knowing how to accompany a book.
A good layout does not draw attention through excess, but through balance. It is in the structure, in the visual rhythm, in the comfort of reading, and in all those details that support the book without imposing themselves on it.
I work on each project seeking that balance between technique, aesthetics and functionality, so that the final book is ready for publication with a professional and polished image.
